I knew from the start that my story was going to be a positive, uplifting one. I don’t believe there always has to be a villain or a bad guy to tell a good story. Also, my cast of characters were going to be animals, and honestly, I am tired of animals being portrayed as mean and nasty. As for the adventure encounters, that came quite easily because I based them on my own experiences.
Where does one begin to write a children’s book when they have never written one? My idea began with the main character, a simple little mountain beaver. I would never have imagined a casual sighting of my mystery critter would send me on such a journey.
When was the last time you were transported to being a kid again? You know, when you have that feeling of wonder and pure delight? Those exciting feelings associated with being a kid!
